Bob is a serial entrepreneur, having founded, built and sold five companies for profit. He left a corporate job in New York and, after traveling around the world for a year, embarked on his first entrepreneurial ventures in Hong Kong. He formed companies in apparel manufacturing and retailing as well as publishing and international trading, both of which were sold to Hutchison Whampoa, Ltd., a local conglomerate. In the Philippines, his company operated six pizza restaurants in the metro Manila area. After selling that business, Bob returned to the U.S. where he bought a bankrupt, international camping equipment business, brought it back to life, and sold it. He again used his interest in food and cooking to launch a fresh pasta business, ultimately selling it to Kraft, Inc. One year later Bob started One Legal, then known as Fax & File.
Bob created the fax court filing business under the Fax & File name at a time when fax machines were still relatively new. Getting courts and lawyers to accept faxed documents was a challenge because of the widespread, yet incorrect, belief that an original signature was required on a document to make it legal. Today, One Legal is one of the leading electronic services companies in California with more than 45,000 satisfied users and more than 15,000 customers.
Robert has more than 20 years of experience in litigation support services including court filing, process serving and court research. In his current position, Robert is responsible for the day-to-day operations of One Legal, as well as transitioning the company to electronic court filing and service of process. Under his supervision, the company has dramatically increased its geographical service areas and the products offered. Through his participation in regional and national legal technology forums, he continues to develop alliances with other forward-thinking companies and court officers.
