Court updates this week
This week: More courts respond to increasing COVID-19 cases by restricting courthouse access, closing filing counters, and re-scheduling trials.
One Legal updates
One Legal has reintroduced the option for same-day physical filing and Courtesy Copy Delivery in certain courts. Starting today, all paper filings submitted to One Legal by 11 a.m. will be delivered to the court on that business day.
Please note: With courts relying on the use of dropboxes to accept filings, we cannot guarantee same-day filing and we still expect delays in getting returned documents.

Alameda County
Same day delivery for filings and courtesy copies is now available in some or all of the courthouses for this county. Review the court information page>>
Amador County
The clerk’s office will be closed to the public December 11, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Filings will be delivered via dropbox.
Contra Costa County
The Court has enacted a limited Court closure as of December 7, 2020. Jury trials are suspended, courthouses are closed with some exceptions, and filings will be accepted by mail or dropbox only while clerk’s offices are closed.

Del Norte County
Due to high active COVID-19 cases, the clerk’s office filing counters will be again closed until further notice.
Fresno County
The Court has ordered a reduction in court operations due to COVID-19 regional stay at home orders. All jury trials are continued by 20 court days on a rolling basis and other hearings and mandatory settlement conferences are also rescheduled.

Humboldt County
The Clerk’s Office is closed from December 14, 2020 through January 19, 2021. Documents can be filed via dropbox.
Imperial County
Effective December 9, 2020, the Court returned to handling matters remote only.
The Court has updated its local rule to require each single document to be submitted as its own PDF.
Kern County
Same day delivery for filings and courtesy copies is now available in some or all of the courthouses for this county. Review the court information page>>
Lake County
As a result of widespread COVID-19 infections, the Court is making changes to court operations to conduct entirely remote hearings and update calendars.
Los Angeles County

Marin County
The Court has implemented limited court closures as of December 9, 2020. All clerk’s offices will be closed for in-person visits and filings will be accepted by dropbox. Remote hearings will continue as scheduled.

Mendocino County
The Court has issued an order authorizing judges to extend time periods provided for the holiding of trials and vacating jury trials set between December 7, 2020 and January 8, 2021.
The Court declared December 7, 2020 a holiday for the purposes of computing time because of a broken water pipe and subsequent flooding in the Ukiah Courthouse that caused disruptions.
Merced County
The Court has updated its clerk’s office hours.
The Court has modified its operations to encourage remote appearances and restrict access to the courthouses.
Monterey County
The Court has announced judicial assignments for 2021.
Napa County
The Court has rescheduled jury trials and consolidated calendars while encouraging the use of remote appearances wherever possible.
Nevada County
The Court has extended statutory time deadlines that would have otherwise expired and extended trial dates affected by the order.
Orange County
The Court has implemented mandatory contact tracing participation for attorneys to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. No other modifications to current operations plans are currently anticipated.

Placer County
The Court has extended time periods provided where statutory deadlines would otherwise expire.
Riverside County
The Court has suspended jury trials through December 31, 2020, applicable to trials that have not commenced. In progress trials will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Sacramento County
The Court has amended its notice regarding resuming jury trials.

San Bernardino County
Limited filings will be accepted at the clerk’s office, according to a recent order, while all others must be submitted via alternate methods, such as dropbox.
The Court remains open with safety protocols in place, while new jury trials are put on hold.

San Diego County
The Court’s website will be unavailable for routine maintenance on December 12 from 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The Court is looking for new applicants for the Grand Jury.

San Francisco County
The clerk’s filing offices are closed until further notice and documents must be filed using available dropboxes instead.

The clerk’s offices are closed to the public effective Monday, December 14, 2020.
The Court has initiated calendar changes due to the worsening pandemic.
The Court has suspended most trials through January 8, 2021.

Santa Clara County
The Court has updated its court operations to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Changes include metering to manage capacity at the courthouses, reducing proceedings during the holiday weeks, and increasing protective measures.

Sonoma County

Stanislaus County
The Court has updated its clerk’s office hours.

Tulare County
The Court has adjusted operations in response to regional stay at home orders. Some calendars are suspended, as are some jury trials. All service counters remain closed to the public except by appointment, and dropboxes are available to file documents.
