Court updates this week
More often than not, updates posted to the court’s website involve specific process changes for single departments or divisions.
However, as coronavirus cases in California grow, some courts are re-implementing court holidays and extending other time period guidelines.
All County Superior Courts
Courts will be closed on September 7, 2020 in observance of the national Labor Day holiday.
Butte County
The Court has amended its earlier orders regarding trials to limit hours for trial to 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Fresno County
The Court has shared proposed rules for civil, juvenile, miscellaneous, and probate case types. Comments must be submitted by September 25, 2020.
Kern County
The Court has ordered that it may hold sessions anywhere in the county from September 1, 2020 to September 30, 2020, inclusive.
Lake County
Jury trials will resume in this county with jury selection to take place at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Precautions are being put in place to keep jurors safe.
Lassen County
Previously scheduled matters in this court will be continued for specific days in September at the previously scheduled times.
Los Angeles County
All Traffic and Non-Traffic Infraction matters scheduled for appearance from August 22 through October 14, 2020 will be continued for 90 days.
As of August 31, 2020, certain departments of the Eastlake Juvenile Courthouse will temporarily relocate to the East Los Angeles Court house.
Madera County
The Court has announced that it may order that sessions be held anywhere in the county from August 14, to September 13, 2020, inclusive.
Mariposa County
The Court announced that it has chosen a new case management system, signing Tyler Technologies as the vendor.
Riverside County
The Civil Grand Jury Selection Ceremony will be held remotely today, August 28, 2020.
San Bernardino County
The second virtual townhall on civil unrest and racism will take place on September 17, 2020.
San Joaquin County
The Grand Jury released their report on illegal dumping in the county, outlining several recommendations for solving the issue.
The Grand Jury also released their report investigating the San Joaquin County Office of the Public Defender after received a complaint alleging mismanagement.
San Mateo County
The Court has issued a calendar memo order curtailing court calendars, suspending Civil, Family Law, LPS, Unlawful Detainer, and time-waived misdemeanor trials through October 2, 2020, as well as implementing other calendar changes.

Solano County
Based on the recission of Emergency Rule 1, the Court has announced that summons may be issued in Unlawful Detainers effective September 2, 2020.
Ventura County
The Court has announced that mandatory case settlement conferences have resumed as of August 17, 2020. Status conferences remain suspended through December 31, 2020.
